I started this blog in March of 2014, when I was a full-time Industrial/Organizational Psychology/HR student, having returned to academia at 50+ years old. The intention was to have a space to share my papers, photos, thoughts and other random info, that often keeps me awake at night! EPIC FAIL!! I only posted a few articles, no photos were ever posted, and I basically forgot about it. Talk about “out of sight, out of mind”!
Well here we are, 4 1/2 years later. I completed my coursework in 3 years, 2 months (Feb 2016) and graduated magna cum laude (gold/silver cords), with a final GPA of 3.97; yes, I am proud of this achievement. I attended commencement at The Music Center at Strathmore, in Bethesda, MD, October 2016, with my best friend and sister of the heart, Katt, whom I could never repay for her continuing love and support. My daughter Bella and my granddaughter Lexi were also there to cheer me on as I proudly walked across that stage!
During this time I lost my father, David Kent Ranney Sr; I love and miss you Dad. I also endured crazy in my household, witnessing narcissistic sociopathic behavior firsthand. I watched my son, Ken, deal with the effects of this kind of behavior, as he was the target of her abuse; all while he was also struggling with and conquering his own addictions. I am so proud of how far he has come, as this struggle is ongoing, even though the narcissistic twit has finally taken her crazy elsewhere! I was blessed with a new grandson, Evan Michael Anthony Purdom (Sept 2014), a beautiful little ginger and a tiny terrorist at this point (he’s now 3 years old). Thank you Bella and John. My oldest daughter Dani, also received her BA in Social Work. I am so very proud of her, as she did this while holding a full-time job and raising 4 remarkable children as a single parent!
I have now determined the need to share my college papers again, not only to hopefully provoke conversation with my readers, but also as a way to ensure that these papers are stored in a place where they hopefully won’t get lost, deleted, or become degraded; which will eventually happen to anything stored on a flash-drive (which is where they are currently stored, as well as the harddrive of my quickly failing laptop), cd-rw, or other physical media storage option.
So, here we go. I will start posting the rest of my papers, some of which my readers might or might not enjoy; but hopefully, at the very least, my readers will find them educational, enlightening, or simply entertaining. I welcome comments, open discussion, and feedback, as conversation and amicable debate is often the best way to solve problems, change attitudes, and above all, open our minds to new ideas.
Love and light, Kriss
